Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you place a name or case number in a search feature, the entry is sent to the outside provider that runs the feature. That company handles the query and returns the response. Our systems do not keep those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We may retain an email for the time needed to respond and preserve the related exchange. We do not disclose that correspondence unless the law requires us to do so.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information whenever a visitor opens a page, including:
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and general device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time of a page request
Cookies and Analytics
A cookie is a small file stored on a device. Cookies and analytics help measure visits, commonly read pages, and navigation patterns. Analytics vendors may aggregate that activity into reports. You can restrict cookies through browser settings, but doing so may affect some website functions.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving website performance
- Routing a submitted query to the applicable search provider
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Delivering advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
No database of dockets or personal case details is hosted, assembled, maintained, or sold here. Marion County District Court records remain with the Clerk of the District Court, while city courts keep their municipal files. Public access is governed by Kansas Supreme Court Rule 22 and, where applicable, the Kansas Open Records Act, K.S.A. 45-215 et seq. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or profiles of other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search features. Information placed in one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices. Read the applicable terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Marion County District Court, Kansas Judicial Branch portals, municipal courts, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity from more than one website to select ads. Their systems, policies, and controls govern that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be received by:
- A search provider processing a query you submit
- Analytics vendors measuring use and performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used for information under our control. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, however, so uninterrupted protection and the absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will take steps to remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the facts and applicable Kansas law, including the Kansas Consumer Protection Act, K.S.A. 50-623 et seq. Subject to legal limits, you may:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of information where applicable
- Object to certain processing where a right to do so applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here with its effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
